If I included a technology assignment in my curriculum using what I learned so far it would be for the students to each create a simple newsletter, using a few of the features that I would teach them, on anything that interest them. It would have to include at least one image, one article w/ a word art title, a header, and color theme. This would be done in my 7th grade English class. This would be done using the MS Word program.
I went to MSN.com.

I feel that MSN uses text styles very well, the continuously use the same font, and rarely change the size, they bold the font for headlines, or places you should focus on the page. It gives it a clean look. Single spacing is used, it has text that would interest any audience from young adults to seniors. It provides emphasis, they do not stack text, they use plenty of lists (that help navigate the site), and the screen is extremely organized. I feel like the site is very well setup and pleasing to the eye.
Idea Mapping is used mostly for organizing ideas, and thoughts so that you can better write about them or speak on them. It has a lot to do with categorizing and giving things common characteristics to organize them. These idea and concept maps are a great visual way to display your thoughts, outlines are also a great way to organize your thoughts. I would most likely use an outline because it is the quickest way in my opinion to write out my ideas, if it is for a younger age group and idea map may be more ideal to catch their attention.
I would definitely encourage my students to use either an outline or idea map, it keeps one from straying off from the points they are trying to make. When you use a map or outline, it give you bullets and exact things that you want to make sure you want to talk about and helps to keep you on task, and very much organizing your thoughts on what you’re trying to write about. It also shows you from the beginning if it is even a good idea for you take on this subject/task.
I think that although I had a good idea of how to outline my thoughts, it was really cool to see how you could make the idea maps on the program. It also gave me ideas for if I decide to open an elementary school, I think that a concept or idea map is essential for that age group to draw them in with the design and give them a step by step guide of what they need to be doing.
I’ve been using MS Word since I was in Middle School. We used it to type papers, to make signs and banners. Since middle school, I use it almost on a weekly basis to make outlines, write papers, and take notes in class. MS Word is the Microsoft Office application I use the most. I seen my teachers use MS Word in the same way that I do. As a visual way to instruct on how to do things, outlines of the plans for the days class, instructions on how papers are to be done. My teachers also use MS Word, to make their syllabi, and other assignments.
Before reading Chapter 9 I had no idea that teachers used MS word to make tests and newsletters. I learned how you could use bullets and numbered lists, tables, and links to the internet to improve the look and organization of your newsletter or newspaper. Also, to make sure you utilize the spell check feature to correct anything you may have over looked. Importing graphs and information from other applications, allows you to add even more elements to your file.
I think the Newsletter so far was my favorite part of this class. I felt that because my interest in the education field is based on my passion to open a school, a newsletter would be imperative to the success of my school. I loved the newsletter assignment and found it extremely gratifying and exciting to complete, this is something that I know I will use in my school, to inform parents and students of what is going on around the campus.
I feel like I have a lot of prior experience in technologies, in grades 6-8 I was in an intense magnet for computer technologies where I learned how to type and how to use programs such as C++. I also went to a high school called MAST Academy, Mast standing for Maritime and Science Technology. For grades 9-12 we were required to use technology in at least three classes per year each student was required to have a computer or laptop, there were also laptops given to each student during the school day. I am proficient in all Microsoft Office programs and applications. Also i'm always on Facebook or something and I hook all the electronics in my apartment if that counts for anything.
In this class I would hope to do a better job at what I already know. I know alot about computers and hope by taking this class i can learn to fine tune it to my specific field. I hope to have fun while doing homework, and be excited about coming to class from what I have seen so far I don't think that will be a big problem. I love computers and I think all together this class should be a lot of fun. As a teacher, I know that technology in all forms will play a large role in my classroom, if it is available.
I feel like the interpretation of my learning styles from the Learning Styles Questionnaire was extremely accurate. There are a lot of different ways I feel comfortable learning. I feel like balance it said I had between Active and Reflective where correct because although I am an active learner and like to be involved in classroom activities, when I study to retain information like in the reflexive description I have to write little summaries of notes I have already taken to retain information. Also, the balance between Visual and Verbal, I have a photographic memory, I remember everything in pictures but i also have keywords that accompany these pictures in my mind, so I felt that this was also very accurate.
